Puto

Want to take a bite? You sure can, in less than 30 minutes. Let me get straight to the recipe and do the talk afterwards :)

Filipino Puto
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 cup of water
1 can evaporated milk
1 egg

1. Combine dry ingredients
2. Add in the rest of the ingredients
3. Arrange puto molds / aluminum baking cups in a steamer
4. Pour batter into molds/ cups
5. Steam for 12 minutes
6. Garnish with american cheese strips or salted eggs, can be served warm or cold :)

This recipe is a modified version of the traditional puto as wheat flour and milk are used instead of rice flour and coconut milk. I prefer this version because they taste like the ones my mom brings home from the palengke (wet market) on Saturday mornings back when we were still in the Philippines. Yum.
